Badger Class meet "Mrs Armitage on Wheels"!
23.03.18
What we have been learning this week.
In English this week we read "Mrs Armitage on Wheels". The children began by drawing a story map of the story, and then learnt and retold it using actions.
They then designed their own bike and added their items to it, very similar to Mrs Armitage! Then, in preparation for writing their own version of the story, the children used their original story maps and edited these in more details.
This week in maths the children have been learning how to add using a blank numberline. They began by recapping their knowledge of place values for tens and ones. Then they used this knowledge to jump in tens and ones on a numberline to find the answer when adding.
On Thursday morning the children all took part in PEDALS, the cycling proficiency training. They now know what they need to check before they ride and how to stay safe whilst travelling.
What we shall be working on next week
Next week the children will be using their plans to write their own story in the style of "Mrs Armitage on Wheels". In maths the children will use their knowledge of addition on a numberline to support subtraction on a numberline.
How you can help with home learning
Please continue to practise reading and spelling with your child at home.
